Toyota's stylish Corolla

The new Corolla will be launched in SA in 2014.

THE NEXT-GENERATION Toyota Corolla has been revealed in two very distinct flavours - European and American.

The European variant, the one we’ll get in South Africa, made its debut in Istanbul, Turkey, while another version for the American market was revealed in Santa Monica, California.
The two cars retain some of the styling cues first seen on the Corolla Furia concept shown at the Detroit Auto Show, so it will look a lot more sporty than the dreary sedan it replaces.
Exterior-wise, it features an all-new exterior design with clean lines and balanced proportions that impart a more sophisticated and contemporary look.

Frontal styling is based on Toyota's two key design pillars - a narrow, elongated upper grille extending into the scalpel-sharp headlamp clusters and the now-characteristic trapezoidal lower grille.
At the rear, the crisp line of the boot lid is underscored by wide taillight clusters for a cleaner, premium appearance.

Toyota claims the all-new Corolla will have a significantly roomier interior with a generous amount of standard kit. The current Corolla is already quite generous in terms of space, which means the new model will likely set a new benchmark in its segment.

As before, there will be a choice of transmissions and powerplants including both petrol and diesel variants.
Further details about the all-new Corolla sedan for South Africa will be announced closer to the local launch in early 2014.
